Here, we share the inspiring journeys of veterans who have overcome challenges, found new purpose, and are making a difference in their communities.

We are proud to feature Dallas Yblood as our Veteran Voice for February 2025. His story of overcoming obstacles and finding new purpose is an inspiration to us all.

Military Service
Dallas Yblood served in the United States Navy from 2004 to 2009 as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate, responsible for maintaining engines and fuel systems for F/A-18 aircraft. During his time in service, he completed two aircraft carrier deployments on the USS Carl Vinson and the USS John C. Stennis, and had a special assignment performing detainee operations in Iraq in 2008-2009.

Transition to Civilian Life
The transition to civilian life was a difficult one for Dallas. After a divorce while still in the Navy, he struggled with instability and job-hopping during his first few years out of service. He found it hard to adjust from the structured military life to a more uncertain civilian existence, leading to feelings of being lost and uncertain about his future.

Motivation & Memorable Experiences
Dallas’s decision to join the Navy came after high school, driven by a need for direction and stability for his growing family. His most memorable experiences during his service include the numerous port calls around the world and his time in Iraq, which played a pivotal role in shaping his journey and perspective.

Source of Inspiration
Dallas is deeply inspired by two key figures in his life: his wife, Jodie, whose tireless work ethic and unwavering love drive him to be better, and the One Tribe Foundation’s CEO, Jacob Schick, who has transformed personal pain into a powerful force to help and inspire others. Both serve as daily reminders to push forward and continue striving to do more for others.

Future Goals & Impact
Dallas’s ultimate goal is to expand the Wind Therapy program he manages at the One Tribe Foundation, a non-profit focused on providing mental health services for veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and their families, with an emphasis on suicide prevention. This multi-phase program includes the Learn2Ride academy for new riders, monthly group rides. Dallas is passionate about helping others find healing and a sense of purpose through these group connections.

Advice to Fellow Veterans
Dallas encourages fellow veterans who may be struggling with similar challenges to reach out to VetsForever. “In most cases, they can help and will,” he says. He highly recommends connecting with the team, as they have made navigating the VA claims process far easier and more efficient for him.

Connection with VetsForever
Dallas first connected with VetsForever at an event in 2022 after struggling with his VA rating since separating from the Navy. Initially rated at just 10%, Dallas sought guidance from VetsForever, and thanks to their expertise, he was able to raise his rating to 80%. He continues to work with the VetsForever team to further increase his rating and values their consistent support whenever he needs assistance or advice.
